Hi, everyone! Damaged one of the original Michelin Energy Saver A/S tires (unrepairable side bulge) at about 27,500 miles on my 2019 Volt LT. The remaining tread on all tires is at about 4/32, so I figured it's time to replace all 4. Looking for the wisdom of the crowd regarding suggested tire choices for all weather driving (lots of rain and some snow). I've done some research, and these appear to be some of the better comparable options. What do you all think?

I just put Goodyear ElectricDrives on my 2017 Volt LT. Very good tires. I've had the Bridgestone Turanza before and really liked them as well.

My 2017 Volt with 66K miles suffered from obnoxious road noise and a rough ride. Although the OEM tires were not yet down to the wear bars, I replaced them with BF Goodrich Advantage Control all season M+S 215/50 R17 (Tread 600, Traction D, Temp A). Result is spectacular improvement - even my wife noticed it. Now the car drives quiet even on coarse asphalt roads, it slides thru roundabouts, and it feels glued to the road even with a little snow. Very happy. Cost was $880 and worth it. Feels like a new car.

mmeytin,

For a replacement tire choice it would depend on where you live and the weather that you face living there first then what you need second e.g, low rolling resistance, performance, comfort, noise, tread wear, etc. I live in S Cali and have very good weather year round. For me range is paramount so I went with the lightweight Energy Saver A/S tires (there are 4 different models available) MFR model # 16798 91H 20 lbs Different Tread Formula (To make them last longer). If you live in a state with regular rain and even snow, I would NOT recommend these tires! Give us a little more information about where you live, complaints abut the original tires that you experienced, your driving style and what you want most from any tire. Then someone on this forum can chime in as to a recommendation that suits you.

Stephen

Thanks Stephen! I am in Maryland, so no California weather for me. We get rain and occasional snow and ice. The reason I dislike stock Michelin Energy Savers: they spun out a few times on me when taking off during light rain (and I'm not an aggressive driver) and they also tend to be noisy on my opinion. But I would have used them for another year if one of the tires wouldn't bulge on the side due to likely encounter with a pothole. Incidentally, on my earlier 2017 Volt I had a similar problem with two tires over my 3 year ownership span. So I think Energy Savers are probably too soft for our local roads and potholes. I think at this point I'm leaning towards Continental Pure Contact LS tires installed by a local independent shop. Continental just added a $70 rebate which makes the price reasonable at under $800 for a set after tax.
