I just finished AMPUP led modification,,, very tricky, the clear glass cracks just looking at it...I used the original reflectors, VOLT 2014 ,placed the MAXLED lights,,,the final results "mixed feelings", a couple of linear cracks over the plastic clear lens... I wonder if the way to go will be cutting the back black plastic,,, and leave the anterior lens and red plastic undisturbed ?...Once I recover from the ordeal I will try again, ordering new reflectors.

YES is possible the clear glass was aging, at least 4 yrs old, exposed to sunlight...becoming fragile non flexible...a pity is "curved", otherwise real glass replacement would have been great. In anycase when I brake is more visible then the OEM,...who knows perhaps will prevent a rear end collision from a texting operator...LOL

Sadly, probably won't. Most rear enders happen while the victim is fully stopped with brake lights full on. Doesn't seem to matter how many or how big the lights are.

The next best add on is a huge air bag that inflates at the rear when a vehicle is closing in at speed and not stopping.

Hello:

I really want to modify my 2014 Volt read reflectors with LEDs. This seems to be the most recent thread covering the topic, but I wonder if anyone has compiled a summary of the best way to perform this modification, so that the running lights and brake lights work, and the brightness matches the OEM outside tail lights. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Thank you, and

Best Regards,

eolon

Eolon from Ohio, good project, but risky , easy to crack the plastic, I will try the posterior approach, drilling the center in the back enough hole to introduce a light like DR LED, small round LED ,in such manner you will not have to crack open the fragile clear plastic... then to connect to the horizontal brake light a piece of cake...good luck .
