I used to drive a 2004 Mercedes C230 Kompressor sport coupe, so it was the long two-door hatchback model. Rear window had about the same visibility as the Gen 2 Volt. No rear wiper option at all like the Gen 2 Volt. But, there was no backup camera at all.
So, even with water all over the lens, it's actually better visibility than some other (supposedly more upscale) cars on the road.
