Given a choice between a used ELR and new Volt, I'd get the used ELR. When the ELR concept was revealed at a car show, I wanted one. But when Cadillac revealed a $75K MSRP, I bought a volt within a week. I thought "no way will the price get cut in half" which was about what I was willing to pay for it. Then the unthinkable happened. In 2015, people started reporting heavily discounted ELRs at $36-40K after all the rebates, incentives, and tax credits. But I'm too stubborn to ever trade in my perfectly good volt, so I'm driving the wheels off the car hoping that someone t-bones me so I have an excuse to shop for another car. If fact, last month, I actually had a crack in the wheel that caused me to buy a new one.

As for pricing, not much has changed since the G1. Current prices are a few K below MSRP with an occasional $5-7K off reported here and there. But I believe that this fall as 2018's arrive, we might see lower prices for 2017's hopefully hitting the 21K Premium (premier) and $17k Base (LT) prices we saw between fall 2013 and summer 2015. It's just a big game of chicken whether you can find a new volt hiding in a not-so-active dealership where they say to heck with it, let's get something for it rather than let it continue to drop in price because of the calendar year rollover.

If you can believe cars.com there are over 4500 2017 Volt's sitting on dealer lot's with 2018's inbound. I'd wait a little longer to see if the 2018's drive 2017 prices any lower. Your in the drivers seat.
And if we're lucky, maybe a price drop is coming. 2013's saw a $5k rebate because 2014s dropped by $5k. I don't think Gm can squeeze another $5k off the price, but maybe there's $2-3k coming...just maybe.

Are you saying $5000 off MSRP?
Current offer I am getting from local dealers- responding true car request- is about $1500 off MSRP.
I am not thrilled at all.
Be patient. The right deal will come along.
