HOWDY!

We have the LT, 2017.

I can use apps such as Google Play to play my google play lists through the sound system in the Volt, also the "Maps" app that came with the iphone works on the dash screen in the Volt as well.

The problem is I can't figure out how to bring up the other I-phone apps on the Volt screen. I would like to bring up the "Google Maps" App on the Volt screen, or some of the other new apps I installed on the Iphone, and can't get them to show on the Volt screen.

Any advice appreciated thanks.

You will have to wait for Apple to release iOS v12 on the iPhone. With iOS 12 you will be able to run Waze using Apple CarPlay. For now, with CarPlay, you are limited to Apple Maps for navigation. You can also use Pandora, Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music and Audible with CarPlay.

I don't know if iOS 12 will be compatible with the iPhone 6. It is up to Apple to decide which Apps to support via CarPlay. The one App almost everyone has been asking for with CarPlay is Waze. Even though Waze is a Google product Apple would rather support a non-Apple navigation App than risk losing iPhone sales.

iOS 12 should be compatible with the 5s and newer iPhones.

It would not surprise me if GM does not make Google maps functional, because it would compete with Onstar.

Not all apps are CarPlay compatible, just like not all apps are AppleWatch compatible.

The developers have to format it properly, and meet whatever guidelines Apple sets. Right now, most apps that work are audio-based, like radio apps, podcast apps, MLB, etc. Whenever a new iOS is released, keep an eye out for whether there is any mention of additional CarPlay functionality. And search for any new web articles about CarPlay as the internet learns about what's new in the latest iOS launches.

How about listening to audio only from tv.youtube.com via linking the i-phone 6 to the sound system in the Volt? Is that possible? News Shows on MSNBC and such...
