Hello fellow Voltonians. I have a 2017 Prem and have, for the most part, very few problems with her.
Last winter the 12v battery went dead and after recharging everything seemed ok.

So now I think I see a problem but I need your thoughts.

I have the light in the power plug spot. As I recall, it comes on when plugged in, flashes with the dash light and does it go out when the car is charged?? I think I recall when I unplug the power, that light is supposed to come on, but it doesn't. I seem to remember it coming on, which makes sense if unplugging at night....

A couple of times, when I pulled the plug, the light did not come on and the alarm went off.

I took it to the STEALER to check the battery and told them about the power cub light and the alarm.

The answer was that the battery was good, and there was NOTHING WRONG with the power cubicle light around the socket.

Something is nagging at me telling me there is something wrong. I'd appreciate any comments about the operation of this light as I am trying to find info in the owners manual....

Thanks for your time.

I have a 2017 Premier with the charging port light. The charging port light glows solid green for approx. 30 seconds when you open the charging port door. While charging the light flashes in sync with the dashboard charging status indicator light. Once the Volt is fully charged the charging port light does not remain illuminated, only the dashboard status indicator light stays illuminated solid green.

You can turn off the unplugged from charging port alarm under settings.

There is also a menu setting to turn off the indicator light at the charging port. There are also menu settings regarding the alarm feature on the charge port. I suggest pulling out the manual (or looking at it online) and familiarize yourself with those settings and see if that addresses and of your concerns.

OK so I found the followinG.....

If equipped, the charge port bezel light acts as an additional CSI when the vehicle is plugged in and charging. It will flash along with the CSI on the instrument panel. When the charge port door is open and the vehicle is not plugged in, the bezel light STAYS ON SOLID to light the charging receptacle.

This is what I thought I remembered but not the case now. The Stealership says the car is normal.... HUmPH!!

As for the alarm, it has only happened twice but I have to LOCK the doors then unlock to silence it. This is not normal I don't think.

When the alarm went off was the first time I have ever heard the thing.

I think, from what you have said and what I read, there is a problem, but don't know how to convince the Stealer that there is a problem...

Feels like the problems are about to start.

When you open the charging port cover the light only stays on solid for 30 seconds.

If. You unplugged the EVSE and didn't have the key nearby, that would trigger the alarm as designed. You'll need to describe the circumstances around the alarms to for us to determine if there might be a problem or if this is operator error.

I would have the key in my pocket as I am preparing to drive the volt. I would see that the car is fully charged, I pull out the charge handle, the port light does not light, and within a sec or two, the alarm goes off. The alarm going off has only happened twice, the port light does not come on and I have to use the key to lock then unlock the doors to silence the alarm.....

The port light will not light up when you remove the charging connector. The port light only lights when the charge port cover is opened, then for only 30 seconds.

Under Vehicle Settings there are two options that could cause this: Charge Cord Theft Alert (On/Off) and Charge Power Loss Alert (On/Off)? How do you have these set?

I am confused.

I would swear that when that plug is pulled that light came on and after the 12v batt went dead, that was when it stopped doing it. As a matter of fact, it came on once or twice after and then stopped again.

I have never programmed the alarm, don't even know where to find the settings.

Check your 2017 Volt owner's manual pp. 143 - 145.

Go through the step of checking the programming as jcanoe suggests. It's called crossing the "t's" and dotting the "i's" in trouble-shooting. 8^)

Alright, thanks............ I've taken enough of your time.

I checked the manual and spent time in the car. There seems no setting for the port bezel light and anything I did find related was not adjustible.

I was given a sheet from the dealer that said....

When the charge port door is open and the vehicle is not plugged in, the bezel light STAYS ON SOLID to light the charging receptacle.

Now it states: WHEN THE CHARGE PORT DOOR IS OPEN and the vehicle IS NOT PLUGGED IN, the bezel light STAYS ON SOLID to light the charging receptacle. This is what I remember, this is NOT what I have now.

I appreciate your time and comments ..... This is closed.

kind of had that intermittent
I just push the door handle button first to unlock door
then remove cord
seems to screw up when still charging or recharging or heating the batteries
or using wall power for something else even when the batteries are charged
