If I can install a charger at all at my home, I won't be able to do a standard wall mount. It'll be outside in a carport.

The bollard/pole mounts for the Chargepoint look nice. I know I've seen similar bollard mounts for other units. But the pole mounts probably blend in with the background a little better, which is probably what I'd prefer.

I'd like to see what sorts of pole mounts (or bollard mounts) you guys have at your homes/offices.

I just finished expanding a shed on the side of my workshop building to create a carport (details on my blog). I find this setup to be practical and the install was very simple. Just pulled Romex 10/3 wire from the breaker box 25 ft and through the wall to the meter box. I installed the Voltec charger on the outside corner along with my own meter that I got used/reconditioned on eBay so I can track the energy used to charge the Volt. Most of the charging power comes from our 5.2kW solar array.

Here is my setup. Very quick to pull down from the ceiling and plug in.
(Note there is a section of old rubber garden hose on the hook that goes on my wheel to protect it now)

Cool installs! I especially like that nice spacious carport; it's kind of cramped in my garage, so I'd love to have room like that.

@Solarvolter, I especially like that you extended the carport roof by extending the roof rafters without replacing them. Most carpenters don't understand this is a structurally sound method.

Here's a couple of photos I posted earlier of my charger installed on the ceiling. The problem I have is no space on the walls and I use the garage as a shop so I can't have charger or its cord hanging down while I'm working.

My buddy John down the road is a builder and he and I did the job together - his wisdom, skills and my muscles! It took us about 3 days to extend the structure, and first we had to jack up the old roof and level it which was a huge challenge. See my blog for more construction details. Well, I pitched in some good ideas too! I have only parked under the new carport 2 times since the gravel was leveled under it. Before that t was all clay mud! I can also park nose-in to the exterior wall which faces north, and will do that occasionally in the fall and winter when the shadows grow longer as it's more convenient, and I get the shade benefit.

Here's mine, mounted on a support pole at the carport. It's a Clipper Creek LCS-25, very compact and recommended over the SPX / Voltec Level 2 that GM pushes at you. See my website for more info.

Jim - That's exactly why I didn't get a garage. I was afraid I'd fill it to the rafters with crap!

Chris - Your install looks close to what I'd probably have to do. Can you share a pic of the other side please?

Leviton EVB32-5ML Evr-Green 320 7.7 Kilowatt Charging Station with 25-Foot Cable

In use about a month now- works great! Volt took to it like a fish to water.

Installed by an electrician for $350 including new 40 amp breaker, external wire in armored sleeve.

I have it strung via a ceiling hook and then to a wooden ladder that hangs above the car. I can easily use it in either garage bay and out in the driveway as well.

I spent a little extra to "future proof" a bit (I hope) by going with a 32 A unit. It is also a "plug-in" (as opposed to hard wired), so it can be moved within the space if need be, or to a new home if I move or sell it.

Like the Volt, "Designed, developed and assembled in the USA".
