I've never seen a negative article about the Volt or the Bolt, maybe it's just the way Google's news feeds work but I seen articles nearly every day and they are all positive. The only Bolt criticisms that I've seen are about it's looks, and that's fair it's an ugly car, and it's narrow seats, also fair. But even those criticisms are tempered, there was a Bolt vs Model 3 review the other day and they characterized the Bolt as practical vs the Tesla being sexy. That's fair also, Chevy's objective when designing the Bolt was to make it a family car that had a lot of cargo room relative to it's size and that comes at the expense of appearance. SUVs and CUVs are unattractive by their very nature but they out sell sedans because they have more space which is why Chevy choose to make the Bolt a CUV instead of a sedan.I guess the last thing I read was a review with a lot of whining and an overall negative tone.
I've run into exactly the same ignorance about the Volt. Chalk it up the Chevy's lack of marketing to explain it.I believe most people know that the Bolt is a pure electric vehicle when you run out of juice your stuck on the side of the road, hopefully not in the middle of the road.
Now the Volt, even today, some people think its a pure electric car. When they ask me about it I tell them I get now in summer 60 miles on a charge, they look at me and say thats not much and what happens when you run out of electric. I have to tell them the gas engine kicks in and I can now go another 300 or miles on gas, and still get well over 40 mpg, voltstats.net as us over 45 mpg.
Other people think it just a hybrid, and have no idea it can run for 40 to over 60 miles just on 100% electricity with no gas engine firing up in between.
