Polestar (Volvo) jumps in on hybrid electric

Kind of wish GM went this route with Voltec - making a separate lineup of cars.

https://www.polestar.com/polestar-1/

Looks like a cross between a mustang and a GT-R. FWD gasser plus 2 electric motors in the back. 93 miles of electric range....now that I'm an empty nester, this might be a great commuter car to replace my Volt. Just need to understand when and how much...

A no "B-pillar" coupe. I have driven both of my Gen I Volt's and now my 2017 Volt over 95% of the time from the battery. Depending on price I could be tempted.

According to this you might have to subscribe to it (lease with maintenance and insurance built in), and if you could pay cash for one, it would be cheaper to buy 2 Tesla Model S-es

At $150-177K, it's not on my short list unless the nest egg pops to the high 7 digits when I can reach into it without penalty.

Maybe the Polestar 2 or 3 will be more affordable

Most people who play lotto or ponies are broke and cannot afford a car like this...but playing the stock market with good growth stock mutual funds can get you there. My nest egg grew by 38% this year. I just need a few more nice years of compounding like this and I'll be set to buy a bunch of toys. Though given the choice between this and an i8, the i8 looks much sexier, but the Polestar 1 has much more EV range.

I wish GM implemented a Power mode in the volt to get all the electric motors and the ICE participating in forward acceleration.
