my 16 volt puked out a couple codes today
some days I wish I live in the U.S.
phoned onstar asked for them to read codes, was informed that their software to do that isn't working
big sigh
grabbed code reader from work and plug in/ after telling me it could not read everything it did give me a couple codes

I'm guessing P1E00 is some sort of generic/supplementary code that helps GM techs more precisely identify the problem. I heard that issues with the contactor can sometimes be solved with a system reset at a dealer, but they might have to replace the contactor. I'd see a dealer soon; it's essentially unable to shut off the HV system.

The P0AA1 is all that matters here.
It's an indication of a high voltage detection issue occurring when there shouldn't be any (e.g. after shut down)
Dealer should check it out
There's a chance they may want to replace the positive contactor or BDU assembly

This diagnostic trouble code (DTC) indicates that an emission related DTC has set in the hybrid powertrain control module 2. The hybrid powertrain control module 2 sends a message, via the serial data circuit, to the engine control module (ECM) requesting illumination of the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). When the ECM receives the message, DTC*P1E00 will set in the ECM.
lights the lite
what is a BDU assembly

From a previous thread, the BDU is

. . . the relay/junction block assembly which is also known as the battery disconnect unit. It houses all the high-voltage contactors that make and break ALL of the high voltage cable connections to the battery. Your DTCs were indicating that voltages being measured did not "jive" with the existing contactor state (open or closed) which usually indicates an inoperative or stuck closed contactor (or sometimes just higher than normal resistance).

so if the relays wont break contacts in an accident , I'm driving a pinto right now
lol No.
It was likely an intermittent event, otherwise you wouldn't be driving it right now as the car would be disabled if a true loss of isolation existed.

Even still it's only a single leg of high voltage (positive), which on it's own really isn't really dangerous unless it's in proximity to the other side of the "completed circuit" equation -negative.

Unlike the Gen1 cars on the Gen2 Volt the contactor relays are serviceable.
They may just change it, especially if the DTC returns upon clearing.

so we took the volt in to get checked
contactor visual inspection -nothing
cycled contactors -good
reset computers -cleared
wife had car 1 hour check engine lite came back on
phoned back service , they now tell me they have to tear the battery apart to find the bad cell
3 days
but hey, checked the oil , not milky white
engine -1
battery-0
have to wait till next week to see whats up

Well unless the DTC has changed it's not a cell issue.
But the battery pack WOULD have to be removed and opened up to "inspect" or "replace" the positive contactor.
So I doubt they "visually" inspected it previously as if you're gonna drop the pack, you're going to replace it (or the BDU)
