Hello,
Had to take my Volt in for service. They had to replace I believe what they called a vapor line from the ICE to the rear battery. Said it had been damaged by heat, and engine had to be removed to replace. Three weeks later I got my volt back. Now it seems to have about a half inch of play in the steering left and right. Seems I'm always correcting to keep a straight line down the highway. Also while driving straight steering wheel is slightly off set to the left. I took it back to service and they said they hooked it up to the computer and also drove and says nothing wrong with it. Hmmm. is it me, I swear it wasn't like that before the ICE removal. What do you think.... Thanks

Sounds like a wheel alignment problem. Maybe the technician hit a pothole while test driving your vehicle. You may have to pay for the alignment, then complain to the service manager to be reimbursed by the dealer or GM.

I think there's a lot for a skeptic to play with in this post.

The Volt steering is not particularly rock solid on the highway, so some play is not unusual. But if the steering wheel is not centered when driving straight, then they didn't center the wheel when they did an alignment. That's a common problem from a freshman alignment tech, and should be fixed easily.
