The purpose of the Volt's under body panels is to minimize air turbulence, improve airflow under and around the Volt. The panels improve the overall driving efficiency when driving on either battery or ICE.Does anyone know how many plastic under body shields are on a 2017?
Is the purpose of them to protect electronics from water?
Sorry, I don't know. The cost of replacing one of the Volt's under body panels is fairly low, much less expensive than replacing and painting a bumper cover for example.jcanoe - do you or anyone know what the "official" or "technical" name is for the three largest front air deflectors on the front of a 2017 Chevy Volt? There is a center deflector up front that spans the width of the front end, one on the drivers side which attaches to the front and goes toward the wheel well, and one on the passenger side which also attaches to the front deflector and goes toward the passenger wheel well.
I can't find them as of yet on an on line search...hoping to see a drawing with parts numbers/names etc...
So far I have only found the Gen 1 parts diagrams... for the under body...
By just looking under my 2017, i suspect there are more than 4 possibly 6...i had to cut some of the panels off as they were ripped apart over the winter, and had some scraping the road, utility knife worked, it looks like panels may run $100+ or so each. I dont plan on replacing mine, unless the dealer has some discounts.Does anyone know how many plastic under body shields are on a 2017?
