I too, prefer D to L and it can give greater range. I use L when going up and down hilly terrain primarily for convenience and I use the paddle for early slow downs for convenience. I have a 2016 model. regen is not particularly efficient. It is better to allow the car to coast as it does in drive for most situations. The key is to not insist in holding the speedometer on to a single number, let is drift as well.

I wish the 2017 volt screen that provides feedback on technique could be added to the 2016 model. It seems that Chevy abandons current customers the minute the deal is sold. They are only interested in new car sales, unlike Tesla.
