New car. I don't see anything in the manual about it starting out disabled. How do I enable it? I think the forward/reverse sonar beeps aren't enabled either.
Why was it "not available"? It happened to me once this winter when I went thru a car wash when it was 5 degrees outside. My outside mirrors were iced over instantly, and presumably the sensors the park assist needs were too. After about 15mins, my park assist light came back on, but for those first 15mins, you could push the button next to the Mode button and nothing would happen. If I knew what sensors needed to be wiped I would have done it.

WOW someone actually uses this feature? Of all the features I paid EXTRA for I'd gladly trade that for HomeLink or AUTO UP on ALL windows. I can't recall the last time I parallel parked a car. It's been YEARS.

Just to be clear on what is being discussed. Park Assist is the front and rear bumper sensors used for Manual Parking (these default on but can be turned off). Auto Park Assist is the mode that lets the driver park in a spot with "hands off" the steering wheel (it defaults off and needs to be turned on each time).
I could not find the specific message "park assist not available" in my manual.

Your should post this question in the Newcomers Forum: (snip because I can't even quote URLs)

See the 2017 Volt Owner's Manual page 206 - Turning the Front Parking Assist (if equipped) and Rear Parking Assist features On or Off.
I didn't know which forum. This seemed decent, after searching the forums and googling it.

RPA, FPA, RCTA, APA. None of them work. I'd hoped there was a menu I'd missed or something. Perhaps I need to take it in for servicing at the dealer?

Conditions are optimal, so it isn't that.

Check the fuse. See page 270-271 of the Owner's Manual. It is hard to be sure which fuse; Start with F19 - obstacle detection. If blown or missing, well then you'll know.

in speedo: "Action Required: Park Assist Blocked: See Owner's Manual"
on computer: "automatic parking assist not available"
Since the last time you posted about this error message, has Park Assist been available and working? For this most recent error message, did you contact On-Star to see if they can remotely read any error codes to help the dealer in diagnosing, fixing the problem? Have you contacted your dealer for service?

Scheduled service. I wanted to know if I was missing anything before doing so.

I had this problem recently. It needed a new wiring harness that had to be special ordered from Michigan. I think it was sort of an involved process. They had to remove the front bumper. Since they replaced it, it's worked consistently. And I always use park assist (auto park assist?) when parallel parking. I mean it parallel parks itself. The first time or two is scary, but you'll find it's pretty reliable. A couple days ago it tried to get me into a space that I thought was too small. It could have been big enough. It's hard for me to judge where the front and rear of the car are.

Aha- that's what I forgot to do. F19 is missing. The three next to it are fine. Can you translate these two missing fuse descriptions?
F19 CLM LCK
F6 AHL
See page 270-271 of the Owner's Manual. It is hard to be certain which is the correct fuse for Parking Assist; it could be F19 - Obstacle detection. (These fuse references are for the rear fuse block located next to the 12V battery, not the instrument panel fuse block or the engine compartment fuse block.)

F6 is the On-board charger module. (I don't see how your Volt would be able to charge without F6.) F20 - Fuel (could be the fuel gauge sending unit?), F21 - Rear heated seat, F22 Right power windows.

The instrument cluster fuses are on 268. That's what I checked. I'll go check the rear and follow up.

rear fuse looked fine. all the others were present too.
There is nothing else you can do without a service manual, wiring diagrams, so it's best to have the dealer's service department find and fix this problem.
