I have a new 2017 Volt. The park assist only seems to have an audible alert in reverse. When in drive and close enough to the car in front so that the bars are visible on the dash there is no audible alert. The service tech and the Volt assistance people are not really sure if it is present or not. Does anyone know for sure? Does it have to be turned on somehow? If so in what menu?

There is an audible alert in forward, but I think you have to be a lot closer to an object than you think. Test it by pulling up to a wall. I know that this was a major complaint from a lot of Gen 1 owners, that the forward alert was too sensitive. It seems the Gen 2 alert is not as picky. In the Gen1 the front alert would turn off above a certain speed and you would have to turn it back on manually when you entered a parking lot. On the Gen 2, it stays on all the time.

Thanks. It seems very spotty. I almost have to hit the object to get an alert. I guess that is the way it is supposed to work. not very helpful if one needs to keep looking at the screen to see how close one is.
