New member here looking at a Gen2 Volt. We looked at a Volt that has a separate panel that the front emblem is attached to that we haven't seen before. All of the volts we have looked at before or after have the bowtie mounted to a normal looking grill. What is the mystery panel for? Thanks

To clarify from the post above, that there are different emblems for cars with Adaptive Cruise Control is true across the entire Gen 2 line, but not that all Gen 2 have this flat emblem. The flat emblem plate is a reliable indicator of ACC, and the 3D molded emblem is a reliable indicator that the car doesn't have ACC.

carson.chan2007,

No ACC is rare in Volts, you need a 2017+ Volt Premier along with comfort packages 1 and 2 along with ACC option on top of those to get it. The painted 3 piece grille with the flush bow tie emblem is designed to not interfere with the Lidar antenna behind it. If you remove or modify that panel you could disable ACC or make it inaccurate. Frankly style aside, it is a blessing to have ACC in a Volt, I use my Clarity ACC every day. If you must have a black "bow tie" emblem most sign shops can make you a stick on one of quality materials resistant to sun fade to just apply over the stock gold emblem, just an idea.
