This happened a few weeks ago, but I forgot to post about it until I saw a remark in another thread that reminded me of it.

I was driving my mom and I to dinner one night, and when I started my car, it said "This vehicle is connected via OnStar" in a female voice through the sound system. My mom, who had only ridden in the car once before, asked if it happened every time, which I of course answered "no, this is the first time that's ever happened"

The question I have is...why??

Dear god you have the worst luck, Arcanox.

Could it be a momentary loss of comms with OnStar's servers or perhaps a firmware update for the OnStar module pushed OTA? I wonder if anyone who has pulled the 12V battery connection remembers if OnStar reset and greeted them like yours did when they first used their Volt after the 12V disconnect/reconnect.

Maybe my car was a beta version...

That's a good point...I think that was relatively soon after I got it back from my last dealer visit, but I don't think they disconnected the 12V. Maybe it was an OTA like you said...

I got the same verbal message today when I started the car. More marketing on parade. I hope it only happens once.
Phew, I'm not the only one. If my mom hadn't also heard it, I might have thought I was going insane...
