OHM-RIDE hit 50k this past week so I decided to pull the air filter again and see if it looked like I should change it.

The answer was YES, but not just for the reasons you'd expect.

I opened up the air box, pulled the filter, and found.....

LOL... damn Squirrels and acorns. I had also noticed an occasional "buzzy" vibration under the hood when the REX was running hard but I hadn't been able to find the source...until now.

Hopefully the little critters left the wiring alone.
In the fall I always put a raised edge tray with a handful of mothballs on the ground under the engine compartment. Seems to have saved me from chewing so far. Which is why I was extra surprised to find the stash.

Hmmm, so at 78k miles, I probably should go ahead and change my air filter. I hit the ICE daily with about 50% or more ICE usage. Thanks for the reminder. I keep my vehicle in a garage at night, so I hope I don't have any pesky critters leaving gifts. We'll see...

Is time for Steve aka SCARLETT to do a Volt-AIR FILTER SCREEN !!!.
Steve is now scarlet1 because of the pesky forced password change last year.

I think the gen 1 maintenance schedule says air filter change every 45k miles. I just replaced mine at 48k and it was pretty dirty, though you could still see some light shine through it in places. 16k of those 48k are gas miles.
