Hi, I am very new to forums and also a new owner of a 2015 Volt. Today, I have noticed that a compressor like noise could easily be heard from the inside of the car when not in movement. I also noticed that the noise is associated with the climate fan. So fan on noise on. Fan off noise go away. It seems like a compressor of some sort is running around the engine. From the outside it is quite loud. It was -8 degree C outside. Anyone experienced that? I have uploaded a video on youtube.

Thank you!!

I have the same noise on my 2015. In Fan Only, turn off the fan and it goes away. There is no other sound from the car so it seems loud. Mine is not as loud as the power window motor and hasn't changed in 36k miles. You will have to monitor it's loudness over a long period to tell if it is getting worse.
Install or replace the cabin air filter. The filter may keep debris out of the fan. Gen 1 Volts did not come with a filter but you can install one.

Similar setup on my 2017 -- if I do a precondition cycle to get the cars temp up or down to my liking its very clear there's some sort of pump running it's not loud but it just makes it sound like the car isn't healthy for some reason (even though it's 100% normal) , its one of the first noises you hear when the car comes alive and starts doing it's thing.

Yup, i think normal gen1 pump noise. I have the same but hard to judge from the YT video, seems to pick the bass alot (or its my speakers).

Any gen1 to gen2 owners can say if there is a difference in the noise level between both generations? I was hoping gen2 would have no or less pump noise!
