Hi All.
I am new in this forum.
I imported this great car to Poland. Already made more than 30 thousands km without problems EXCEPT heating.

Last winter I lost heating in the Electric mode. In the fuel mode works great.

1. Heating works let say once on 4 trials. Almost never just after charging, often when I make a few km close the car and drive again.
2. Cooling works perfectly without problems on both modes.

I have read most of the posts. Try to reset fuses etc.
I decide to go to Chevy Garage in Berlin (In Poland any Garage doesnt want to even check my Chevy)
So I drove 700km to Berlin left a car for 1 week. They said they updated software and it didnt help.
Charged me 150Euro and inform me to fix it they need to replace 3-way valve (600Euro)
I refused as I can have the valve for 50 Euro and replace by myself.

Do you think its really problem with 3-way valve if cooling works perfectly on both modes ?

What could be other problems ?

Please help me as Winter is coming and I am waiting for my first child birth (for 2 weeks)
I want to drive my car on electric mode during a winter not on fuel :(

Waiting for your answer

Please help me as Winter is coming...
GoT fans love this.

Back to topic, my car only exhibited an intermittent no-heat situation, but when they reloaded some firmware, it seemed to fix the problem. But having it rarely work wasn't my symptom. For me, it didn't work once or twice a month. But since my commute is long, I traditionally drive in hold mode on the highway, then EV mode when I get to the city - so that might mask my problem.

Hi All. Thanks for answers. I have read this posts before.
Facts:
- software was updated in Berlin Garage (that what they said)
- it is 2012 version - no Hold Mode available. Only: Std; Sport; Mountain (starts engine when there is les than 40% of battery)
- it seems like 3-way valve is working as air- conditiong works perfectly on both modes
Any Ideas ?

Hello. I live in Lithuania. I had same problem to. Heat was not working in electric mode. Only difference was that check engine light sometimes was lighning on. Diagnostic showed almost all possible errors. Then mechanic from service suggested that problem is small water pump. I bought it on ebay 100€ from germany. Pump price in USA was about 250 $. He replaced the pump and problem gone away. My Volt is 2012, no hold mode, think same as yours

Check to see if the electric water pump in the right front wheel well is working when the EV heat is turned on. You should be able to hear it if it's running.

The working air-conditioning tells you nothing about the 3-way valve. The air-conditioning does not use that valve in any way. The 3-way valve controls the flow of the engine coolant liquid through the heater core. It only affects heating. That valve can malfunction in 2 ways. It can either be broken, or it can be controlled incorrectly by the heater control module. Replacing the valve would fix only one of those two problems.

I don't know if this will help you, but one easy fix that has helped some people is to reset the heater control module by:
1) turn car off
2) remove fuse #5 from the fuse box near the front left door hinge. Keep the fuse out for about 15 seconds.
3) reinsert fuse, wait 15 seconds
4) car is ready to use normally.

This can help fix some intermittent heater problems. The fix is usually temporary and can be repeated as needed, every few days, for instance.

Hi all
1. Seems like water pump is working. Is quite noisy even possible to hear from the car. its somewhere near right fron wheel. Working faster when I increase temperature and stop when I stop heating or change to fan only.
2. I reset all possible fuses. No changes. tried to drive a few km. shut the car. Leave it for a few minutes. Didnt help
(6 months ago it helped. E.g: I drove to my job 40km without heating but when I was driving back heating appeared sometimes)
3. I checked temperature (by temperature sensor) of all pipes coming from heating module. nothing changed. Tempereature about 15'C

I will check filter described in previous posts. maybe heating module doesnt start as liquid flow is to slow
Whats are your opinion ?
