Should there have been four rear license plate inserts (white squares that the screws screw into) in the rear bumper cover? I think the dealer installs these. On my new Volt they only put two in the top squares and none in the bottom squares. I would think four is better as the plate will be loose at the bottom.

Did yours come with four?

My 2016, which I bought used, oddly had inserts in the bottom holes and none in the top. 98% of cars I see have license plates installed with only the top screws.

If you want all four, a set of inserts & screws is about $2-3 at any auto parts store or big box retailer.

True that. The dealers always 'forget' to put in the other two nuts. It is annoying. You can get the square plastic nuts at most any FLAPS (Friendly Local Auto Parts Store). While there, buy some black screws and a plain black frame for the plate - no logos or cutesy sayings - to replace the one with the dealers name on it. With those simple steps you will have a nicer looking licence plate setup than most of the cars on the road.

The trunk lid on ELR is not thick enough for lower plate fasteners. Most cars have only two. Must be a weight thing.

Personally I like four. I've had hard-to-find buzzing sounds when using two.
