Hello,

We've just racked up 75,000, and although I've got plenty of tread left, I'm starting to thinking about options when the time comes to swap the tyres out.

Has anyone in Australia had to replace their tyres yet? If so, what did you go with?

I've found the Michelins on the car quite good, although they are a little loud. Reading elsewhere on the forum it looks like there might some trade-off on range if quieter tyres are opted for, but the continentals sound like a good balance for noise and range. I was going to check in with Holden as well to see if they've got any recommendations.

Thanks,

I have Michelin primacy 3 ST on mine

In terms of range maybe 1-3km

In terms of handling and performance, they blow the stock crap away

Wet braking distance is greatly reduced

The stock michelins are rubbish

There's lots of quiet tyres, I've also had primacy LC on the volt, but after a while even the quiet tyres sound the same

Hey Mex,

I was hoping you'd reply as I thought you'd have put a new set on by now. I've been looking at the Primacy 3 ST as well, and I'm glad to see that it had a negligible impact on range. The current tyres seem to be lasting really well, but I want to be ready in case there's a failure etc so I know what to get straight away.

When you had them replaced, did you get it done at the dealership, or was the local tyre bloke able to sort out the pressure monitors etc?

Thanks,

Both sets done at Costco

Because they were by far the cheapest

With the tpms

If you mark the wheels and return them to the same position on the vehicle you don't need the tool to re set them

If you rotate your tyres then you do

So far I've done 10,000km on my 3ST and the wheels are in the wrong positions, didn't bother to ask the dealer during service to fix as I'm rotating soon

Hi,

Well after doing over 85,000 on them, I finally had to replace the set as there as some damage on the front left. I still had a couple of mm to go, but I thought I may as well get it done.

I went with the Primacy 3 ST's and have been very impressed. The difference in road noise was immediately obvious, as the car is so much quieter now. Handling also seems to be better, particularly on tight turns. I can't tell how the range situation is going since it's getting colder now and the range has started to tank, but I'm hoping that by the time it warms up again they'll be run in enough it won't matter.

Our tyre pressure monitors were also cocked up and one is still playing up after it was done. It's almost due for the next service so I'll get it fixed up then.

Thanks for the advice, it's worked well.
