Purchased my new Volt on 10/08 and just love the car and of course the HOV access. Looking forward to getting driving tips and learning more about the tech. Thanks for providing this forum!

Volt is not much different than any other car. Needs washed, oil changes, w/s fluid etc. If older than three, it will need tires, maybe 12v battery, and other 'normal' stuff for any other car.

My advice to new owners is to just drive it. The tech will take care of itself and can be appreciated over the long run.

The trap with Volt is stats and gasoline anxiety. :)

Items: L is not a "gear". It is an elevated regen setting only. Many of us drive in L 100% of the time. Along with regen paddle use we
hardly footbrake.
On trips exceeding battery capacity use Hold on open road. Battery in urban/suburban driving.
Infotainment buttons can be flicked up/down or sideways.
240 volt charger is worth it, especially when combined with solar.
The hatch is more difficult to close with all windows closed. Push down to close.
Enjoy.

Thanks.

I have been driving the car in "L" when in traffic and using the paddle. In L.A., I routinely drive the Sepulveda and Newhall pass every day. I Put the car in Hold mode for going up and switch back to battery for the downhill. Since I live in a condo, getting a 240 charger is not an option right now. Given that 12 amp charge takes about 8-10 hours, leaving some charge on the battery ensures that I will be fully charged in the morning. Any issues using the hold driving mode in this way?

Thanks for the tips!
