Good morning!

New owner of a 2013 Volt checking in. I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks, but decided to register and get on board when I saw that everyone here seemed really nice. I've been an owner of VWs most of my life and became a Volt owner when I got married (seeing as we need something with 4 doors and an automatic). Tell you the truth, I'd never thought I'd own a GM car, but this one really took me by surprise. (Not that I have anything against GM, but I rode in a lot of Cavaliers and Corsicas in high school and wasn't really impressed).

I'd been on a few different car forums before and really like the camaraderie and wealth of knowledge folks provide to each other. Looking forward to meeting new folks here and finding more out about this really cool car.

Welcome to the group!

I myself never envisioned owning another GM vehicle again in my life. In my younger years, every GM vehicle I owned ended up totaled within the first 6 months of ownership. I was convinced that they were cursed for me to drive after the last one I purchased was totaled in a head-on collision after about 45 minutes of ownership.

After researching the Volt, I decided to give GM vehicles one last chance, and I am so happy that I did!

What I have learned in the past 11 months of Volt ownership, is that every day the car becomes more amazing and awesome to me. You will find that you love your volt more each time you press that wonderful blue power button and zip away quietly.

Again, welcome to the forum, and enjoy the amazing ride!

Welcome and congrats! Post up pictures when you have a chance.

I bought my '13 earlier this year and I absolutely love it. I'm a car guy and I'm always looking for my next car but I'm having a really hard time replacing this one, as the convenience of not having to go to the gas station is hard to give up. I drive fully electric during my commute, so I hardly every use any gas.

I think my next daily driver will be a Cadillac CT6 PHEV, unless they release the Escalade PHEV in the not too distant future.

Pictures will be forthcoming! Nice to meet y'all!

I sort of fancy myself a car guy as well, more watching Top Gear and reading magazines than a nuts and bolts type of guy. What intrigued me about the Volt was that you can buy one off lease for relatively cheap. I was able to pick this one up 2 hours away (in Indianapolis), it had 22,000 miles on it, it was the premium model and they were only asking $14,000. I'm not sure what they (or the public at large) know how great these cars are. It almost reminds me of when I bought my 2001 Golf TDI in 2002. That was another cheap car, because nobody wanted a 2 door diesel. Why would you buy a diesel? Of course, it got 48 MPG and that got people talking.

Anyway, enough yammering on from me. I'm sure all of you feel the same way about your car. I still question a lot of things: "Why aren't these more popular?" "Will they be in greater demand once gas prices rise again?"

One last thing, I read in a review of the Volt that it is quite like a 56K modem. Not meaning it's noisy or slow, but it's taking a landline (gas) and expanding it to a technology that is (slowly) revolutionizing the world. Buying off lease means it's certainly within the realm of many more people, and it's not just a niche vehicle. I'm excited about it. I love it. Pictures coming soon.
