What is mountain mode for I read some places there like its bad and others say its good whats your take on it?

is there a way to make if faster... I put it in sport mode and i like the pick up it has but if there was a way to make it faster for tho time you want to pass people :cool:

last lowering springs i know its probably a bad idea but i like the way it looks who makes springs ;)

Welcome and congrats on the buy. Mountain Mode (MM) is actually a great feature that maintains a buffer of about 40% battery power. It helps to provide enough electricity to maintain climbing power on longer climbs since the extended range generator is limited in the amount of power it can produce at any moment. It's certainly possible to not use MM when climbing, but without that buffer of extra available electricity you may receive a message stating "Propulsion Power Reduced" and possible limit on how fast you can go based on available electricity from the generator. On a side note, if you have less than about 40% battery power remaining when you turn on MM, the engine will turn on and run at a high RPM in order to run the generator fast enough to create that buffer.

As for faster, probably not. My understanding is that when you attempt to punch the accelerator to pass someone it starts a chain of events in which certain clutches engage/disengage between the two electric motors (and engine if in operation) in order to give maximum acceleration. Unfortunately this chain of events takes a couple of seconds to complete before you feel that rush of power. My best suggestion would be to plan your acceleration a second or two earlier than you attempt to pass in order to allow this process to complete.

I'm really of the frame of mind that if you "keep it stock, keep it happy" so I tend not to look much into modifications, however I believe there was a thread about possible alternate suspension components but I think that was more about shocks than springs.

You can't do much to make the car faster. There have been threads of folks tuning the ICE, but that doesn't really help all that much. To make the car quicker, but have a slower top speed, you could put smaller overall diameter tires/wheels on the car, which would also lower it, but increase the gap between the tires and the sheet metal. You could also try to squeeze larger diameter tires/wheels into the wheel wells and risk rubbing, get slower acceleration, but a higher top speed.

I personally added 18" wheels with Yokohama deep tread tires to get better handling with a hit to range. The wheel/tire package is heavier, which also slows down the car's acceleration, but the overall diameter is slightly smaller, so it might make up for it. So going with amuch lighter wheel/tire package should also help with acceleration.

BTW, sport mode is just a remapping of the accelerator pedal to make it more responsive with less pedal movement. Mashing it to the floor in D accomplishes the exact same thing.
