Vehicle emissions are still the low hanging fruit for cleaning up the air. When you consider that the major cities in California are primarily on the coast, the prevailing wind direction is from the ocean, there are limited upwind heavy industries to generate air pollution, and that these same cities are still among the high smog areas, you're left with only vehicle exhaust as the pollution source.

The major problems are the SUV's, CUV's, Pick-up Trucks and the Cargo trucks.

If you improve the mpg of Prius from 50 to 100 mpg, it isn't as dramatic as improving the SUV's, CUV's and Pickup-Trucks by 5 mpg more! It would truly be a super significant reduction if these other popular vehicles can have Voltec like technology or go electric.
