From my understanding, a123 uses a nano-doping technique but still uses a phosphate based electrode. The doping makes the structure more dense, allowing for better flow and density. According to your article, they have created a whole new material/structure. So it makes me wonder if the techniques could be combined.
Hard for me to really grasp what all this really means from their website. I read an article on them that said they HOPED to reach some very impressive figures in terms of energy density and such. Meaning as of now they haven't yet. Hopefully this is yet another breakthrough in cheaper more powerful long lasting batteries.
