The Car News in China has revealed the new 2018 Buick Regal sedan based on the 2018 Opel Insignia. And there will be three power varians, including a "Hybrid", probably based on the 2017 Chevy Malibu Hybrid powertrain:

"There will be three engines: a 1.5 turbo with 163hp, a 2.0 turbo with 254hp, and a hybrid. The latter combines a 123hp 1.8 with an electric motor with a yet unknown output."

So Buick will have two hybrids: the LaCrosse and the Regal.

Interesting. Wonder what type of "hybrid" they're talking about. Thanks for posting.
The Lacrosse hybrid sold in China uses the same system as the Malibu hybrid.
The Regal, Lacrosse and Malibu are all on GM's new E2 vehicle architecture. So likely the same system.

However PHEV's that get at least 30 miles of EV range (50kms) get large incentives in China. So a Voltec like system might be possible.

And if GM is doing a Voltec Regal they better bring it to North America.

I'm going to want the Regal T Type in black with AWD in Voltec or BEV.

GM will reach the 200,000 EV phase out point in 2018. After that they can sell as many qualifying vehicles for the next 6 months and still get the full $7500 tax credit, but then the amount of the tax credit is cut in half for the next 6 months, and halved again for the following 6 months, then it disappears entirely.

If GM has any plug-in ready to sell, then 2018 is the time to do it. After that, the tax credit will dwindle away, and manufactures coming late to the market will have a huge cost advantage. Because of this, I think this Regal and Lacross will be full plug-ins like the Volt.
