My first visit to this subsection!

Okay, well not "owner", exactly. But you get my point...

Just leased a Gen 2 LT with comfort, sound, and a very fetching cargo net and mat, to replace my poor 2015 that was totaled by a tailgater back in September. Siren Red, like before, 12k miles/yr.

Payments are just a few bucks higher than my loaded-out 42k something MSRP outgoing-model Premiere, which was $225/mo. But I worked out an over 60% reduction in the down payment compared to before at $3700, which I realize now was too high by any reasonable standard. Ouch.

I'm flipping my deductible check from GEICO and excise tax abatement from the totaled-out car into the first month's payment and fees on this one.

I know some folks in CA are doing better deals, but unfortunately it seemed very difficult to get to similar numbers at the dealers here in MA. Just not enough volume, I suppose. But if all goes well with the state rebate process on this one, even after the down payment I should be walking away with money in my pocket, so while not entirely satisfied (who ever is when car shopping), I'm pleased enough. It's everything my 2015 was and more; the only feature I may miss a little bit is the cross-traffic alert.

Any quick tips for someone going from a Gen 1 to a Gen 2, or threads to that effect I could be referred to?

It's good to be back. Voltasia II and I will see you out there on the road.

Seems like a good deal for being a $42K car w/12k...I believe Mass gets a $2500 state incentive as well...

You can get a state rebate on a leased Volt? Good luck with your new Volt.
Yep! If all goes well I'll have a check and my "EV" plates on the way. Only requirement AFAIK is it must be a qualifying vehicle (the Volt certainly is), and the term must be 36 months or longer.

The MSRP on the loaded-out 2015 was 42k, but I leased it in August of 2015 as the outgoing design. The MSRP on the "bells and whistles" Gen 2 LT was closer to 37.

I was hoping to go for the Premiere on this one as well, but as it's the current model I just couldn't make it work financially. The Confidence Package extras I would've really liked were the side and rear traffic alerts, I can frankly do without the ACC and lane departure...wish those two were available as options on the base but I guess they gotta upsell on something.

Does anyone know if fog lights can be installed by the dealer at a later date, or are those factory-install only? And are the Volt's fog lights actually worth anything from experience, to those who have them, or simply a useless trim piece? As a New Englander that's one other thing I might wish - don't worry, I won't leave them on all the time. ; )

One thing I noticed about the rental Kia Soul in some of the recent poor whether we've been having is that its fog lamps seem to have pretty good short-range brightness and a very sharp cutoff, and aren't just for show. There are a number of low-lying areas down here south of Boston where the fog can get thick as clam chowdah in inclement weather, all seasons of the year.
