My 2013 Volt has just been updated with the most recent software. Some of which isn't even released to the general public just yet.
When my dealer was stumped on my issues 1-5 (see below), they contacted the system engineers in Detriot and the engineers decided to have my dealer download a "special" release of the software to install on my vehicle. They did and I have it now. I don't mind being a "guinea pig" with new software--I am, after all, a software engineer myself.
I am happy to say, issues 1-5 have not re-appeared although I have only had this new software since last night and only drove to work this morning (using nav). I'll thoroughly test it in the coming days.
What had happened was that while I had my 2013 Volt in for some minor tweaks (it's only a month old), I discussed the issues I've been having with the navigation system (with MyLink). Issues such as:
Issues 1 through 4 happens only about 10-15 percent of the time, but it has happened when I needed to navigate the most.
Issue 6 works as designed. The speed limit display (which looks like a street sign), is just that--as if you were looking up at a sign.
Issue 7 was fixed with the October 19 software update which my dealer also installed.
Before taking my vehicle in, I noted all the current version numbers of the software, via the Center Stack > Config > Radio Settings > Software Versions Menu > Software Version Information (see attached screenshot)
Of the 28 pieces of software displayed, two of them were removed, two new ones were added, and three stayed the same. I'm not sure why these are stored/displayed under Radio Settings, but I figure that the software displayed is more than just "radio", per se. This is probably for all the MyLink components (including navigation).
(see attached PDF of the "before" and "after" software versions)
p.s. I was not told to keep the installation of this new, unreleased software "under wraps". I was simply told to keep my dealer informed if any of my issues were not resolved or of any anomalies should I encounter any.

What had happened was that while I had my 2013 Volt in for some minor tweaks (it's only a month old), I discussed the issues I've been having with the navigation system (with MyLink). Issues such as:
- Freezing/getting stuck at "Calculating route..." more times than I would car to remember
- Freezing/getting stuck when issuing voice commands for setting a destination and/or waypoint(s)
- Deleting waypoints and adding new ones while destination has already started (freezing/getting stuck)
- Center stack rebooting (usually when one of the above has happened)
- Bug when I have a destination *and* at least one waypoint set, the distance-to-destination indicator does not decrement as I drive toward the waypoint/destination. It does display and decrement correctly if I just have a destination, but zero waypoint(s).
- When configured to display everything in metric, the display of the speed limit on the current road is not in metric--it remains in U.S. (standard) mode.
- Delayed charging bug (this is the well-documented issue and is easily found by searching on the internet or this forum)
