So my "soon to be" teenage son has started sitting in the front seat when we are driving, and his curiosity is often stronger than his self-control. He likes to turn on the radio and mess with the settings before I can get into the driver's seat and reign him in.

After one of his recent "exploration sessions," I powered up the Volt and was almost blown out of my seat by the volume of the "Welcome Woosh." I kindly reminded him that I don't appreciate the changes and asked his to set them back to normal.

He says he did, and insists that he "didn't do it." It is still unusually loud every time I start the vehicle. I'm hoping someone here can help me restore sanity to my driving experience.

Thanks!

Assuming I am thinking of the correct whoosh, if you start turning the volume down (via the knob, I haven't tried this with the steering wheel control) as soon as you power up your Volt, that should adjust the volume for that specific noise.

My 11 year old does the same thing.

Just turn the volume knob down while the sound is playing.

Then go to the menu and turn the sound off completely, so that he can't do it again.

Another part of the problem, I found, is that the volume adjustment is kind of slow to respond, and a young kid expects everything to be instant. For that reason, my kid quickly turns the knob much farther than is really needed, thus blasting the radio volume. A little training on adjusting it slowly helped him control it more accurately.

That's not a punishment. It's a normal chore to earn basic food and shelter. Treats and heat are extra.

I wouldn't be so quick to blame your son. On my 2015, the "Whoosh" has turned itself up to an uncomfortable volume twice. Maybe I hit the volume knob by accident while it was on, but whatever caused it, my 16-year-old was miles away at the time.

I've had the Audio Cue (before turning it off entirely) fire as late as "start car, back out of space, drive up ramp to parking lot, drive through parking lot to street, THEN get 'woosh'". And all the time before that was setting Audio Cue volume while I was wondering why I wasn't hearing the Siouxsie and the Banshees the screen claimed it was playing. That one was loud.
