Lucid Motors, which started as a battery supplier for hybrids, will offer a new 300-mile BEV sedan:
"A new automaker pulled aside the curtain in Silicon Valley, revealing its name as Lucid Motors and showing off its prototype car, a premium electric sedan. The company previously existed under the name of Atieva, where it got its start developing battery packs for electric vehicle applications."

As the saying goes, the more, the merrier. More competition against the gas engine vehicle will make EVs more attractive. This may be the true "Tesla killer" since it is a large sedan with many features similar to what the Model S has. But until a real prototype is shown and test drives given, it may be another example of "vaporware".:p

Extra: Here is a YouTube video of their test vehicle, Edna, against a TM Model S: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgO9gcyWSpw

Watch the reaction of the female passenger!

Edit: This new sedan will also use four OLED displays:

That is superior over the Model S which has two LCD screens.

It's a long long looooooong way from a logo and prototype to production and even after the first cars are delivered the failure rate of auto companies is very nearly 100%. Tesla is the lone exception, rather than the rule, and they still might fail. They successfully transitioned from specialty exotic to medium volume luxury cars but the Model 3 is still not a sure thing.

I can't think of another new high-volume car company in Europe or North America that was started in the last half century and survived. I don't count re-branding like Acura, Lexus, Infiniti. Hyundai is fairly new (1967, I just looked it up) but it was backed by a large existing conglomerate.
