We're going to need a 2nd vehicle when our son takes a car to college this fall. It will be used mostly around town. We have a Ford Flex we love to use on long trips, or when space is needed. Test drove a 2017 Volt a couple days ago. Really liked everything about it, except for headroom. I'm 6'4" with 34" inseam, and I just barely fit. Looking at the base model with the comfort package; meets all our needs. MSRP is $34555, but I've seen some advertised as low as $28552. That's a $6000 discount, and with the $7500 federal tax credit, it puts a new Volt at around $21000. That's seems like a great deal. I initially looked at used 2014's that are priced around $15-16k. The small savings don't seem to be worth it. Am I missing something?

Since we don't need the car until fall, I figure the deals should be even better then with the 2018's and the Bolts out in the showrooms.

I like to customize/accessorize my cars, but I don't see much on the web for the Volt. I'll scan this forum to see what others have done, but please pass along any must-haves. Also, are there any watch-outs in general that I need to be aware of? I love car/motorcycle forums, and belong to several. They're a great place to get advice and ideas. If you have a question or issue, chances are pretty high that someone else has already addressed it. Looking forward to joining you guys as an Volt owner. Appreciate any advice folks want to pass along. Thanks!

You may not be aware, but the Volt has a height adjustment on the driver's seat. Maybe someone had adjusted it up before your test drive. I'm not 6'4" so I can't tell if that is actually the problem.

The tax credit must be used the first year some people cannot use the whole 7500.

Check out The VoltShop. They are all good quality, made by forum member Scarlett. Search the forum for threads about the VoltShelf and VoltScreen.
