With my lovely 2015 having been totaled by a tailgating idiot, I'm in the market for a new Volt lease. Like, pretty quick now.

I'm wondering if anyone has any referrals for Chevy dealers in the Boston area that folks have had good experiences with. I originally leased from Quirk, and while it was a pleasant experience at the time, I realize my deal was not as good as it could have been had I been more knowledgeable. Plus, when I brought my car in to their service center for its first oil change, they didn't give me the proper instructions and I sat around the dealer for two hours before they just drove my car back out and handed me the keys, with no work done. The young guy in the service center was in a rush, and just told me "Yeah leave the keys and take this you're all set" - he never told me that I needed to take whatever slip of paper he handed me to some guy inside the building to get the car in the queue.

I was still trying to find the time to reschedule the service appointment when it was wrecked. Unless they have some amazing customer loyalty discount to offer me, I think I'd like to go with someone else.

I never did get the $2500 rebate for my first purchase from the state. I filed my application after the three month window, because I was relatively ignorant about the program when I first leased the vehicle. The dealer never mentioned it at the time - another thing that annoys me. So I had to start an appeal process. It's been about 6 months now since I sent in the appeal letter, I've sent multiple emails and made multiple phone calls, and just about a week after my 2015 was totaled I received an email that my appeal was still under evaluation, and they had no further information at that time. Talk about adding insult to injury.

So if the program is still active and I lease another new vehicle, I believe theoretically the state of MA owes me $5000. Theoretically.

The entire insurance negotiation process has been overall miserable; for the most part I was treated pretty lousy by both companies. Nothing but hostile adjusters who wouldn't return my phone calls. I still haven't gotten a straight answer out of anyone as to whether the other party's insurance is going to comp me at all for fuel/rental expenses, or for how much of the rental expense they're good for, or if the other company is willing to raise the settlement amount beyond simply the appraised value of the car in compensation for my time and lost wages dealing with this. No info from anyone. I'm moving forward with a complaint to the MA attorney general's office about this, as it's been awful. My insurance company didn't even notify the lienholder about the total loss until around a week ago, and I had to call them multiple times to get them to move on it.

I'm hoping to get the best low to no down payment 36 month lease on a Premier with a 12k mileage allowance. Payments under around $300/mo would be ideal. If I have to go LT to make the numbers work similar to the maxed out 2015 I had, I'd grumble but I guess I'll cope. I'd very much like a Siren Red one. : )

I leased mine from MacMulkin in Nashua. They usually have one or two Volts on the lot. The only service I had there was a few tire rotations, a couple of recalls, and an oil change. Their waiting area is comfortable. I just wish they had something other than those lemon danish with the coffee.

Quirk: masters of the bait and switch! Avoid if possible. I tried to help my cousin lease a Volt from Quirk, and it was a complete debacle. Every other email, the advertised $7k discount kept shrinking and shrinking.

Try Herb Chambers Chevy in Danvers. They weren't the absolute lowest price, but were 100% up front with pricing. Contact Eduart at [email protected]. Mention you got his info from a Brian R., and that should get you on the fast track to a good lease offer.

If you are persistent and insistent, you will probably get the best price at Quirk, at least based on my experience in buying a 2017 Premier with ACC a few months ago. Most of the Chevy dealers I had contacted seemed to have little interest in selling Volts. Quirk sells a lot of them and had quite a few in stock. Note that not everything they advertise on their web site is actually in stock, some may be on order.

The purchasing experience was somewhat drawn out (3 hours from when I walked in the door ready to buy). They tried to include the delivery charge in the price even though it was included in the MSRP. They seemed to have a problem actually locating the car on the lot, but eventually it materialized. I financed through them but refinanced soon after at my local credit union.

Quirk is not very convenient for me to go for service, but they say they have Saturday hours and I might want to take my Volt there if I had a problem that other dealers with little or no Volt experience might not be able to handle.

Overall, I felt that a few hours of moderate aggravation were well worth the $6350 discount off MSRP.

Good luck.

I purchased, rather than leased, my 2017 Volt Premier from Herb Chambers Chevrolet in Danvers. This was due to the fact that three other dealers north of Boston (closer to me) had zero Volts available to test drive. None of them had much knowledge about the Volt (big surprise, hah).

My two service visits to Herb Chambers have been fine, except that when arranging for a spare tire, the service advisor did not point out that a compact spare is the best way to go, and consequently I spent far more than I should have.

Last time I was in, there were Volts now on the lot. They would certainly be willing to discuss lease numbers on any of them.

Good luck!

Another possibility is to look for used Gen I Volts around Boston (or from further afield, if you're willing to drive it home). You might find a very reasonable price.

I'm not a fan of leasing unless you can write off the lease expense as a business deduction.
That said, I bought mine at Quirk, because they were $1K less than the best price I could get from Durand. But I felt like I needed to take a shower after the deal was done.... not that they were unpleasant, but some weird things went on with gm employee pricing (I'm not) for friends and family pricing (I'm not) and the numbers on the bill of sale didn't match anything I understood, except for the bottom line. In a calmer state of mind I'd probably just buy the car from Durand....
I have my car serviced at Colonial in Acton, they seem Competent and are pleasant and fixed a big dent on the front end pretty well for me. yes, they try to use the "severe service" maintenance schedule, so I have to tell them what to do and not to do, but I am overall pleased with them.

My 2013 search began at MacMulkin in Nashua NH. They advertised (web) a good lease deal on a base 2013. Trouble was that I didn’t want a base model and they wanted 50% more $$ for 10% more car (based on comparing stickers). I finally leased at Quirk in Manchester NH. They didn’t know much about the Volt but they scaled the national lease offer to a loaded 2013 in a linear fashion. We bought our 2014 Volt (wife’s car) at Herb Connelly in Framingham. They have a better selection and better inventory of Volts than average MA dealers. I was eligible for a GM Supplier discount that offered 0% interest for 4 years and about $3000 off sticker. It’s dealers’ discretion whether they will honor the GM Supplier discount so my first questions were about the 0% and $3000 off. They quickly agreed and the deal was done. That was without a trade-in because my daughter got my wife’s old car. Now I am getting all of my service work done at Colonial Chevrolet in Acton because it’s closest to where I live. They have been great for service. Besides tire rotations and oil changes, they replaced a failed charge port under warranty and replaced some wheel bolts on the 2013 that I stripped doing my own tire rotations (some of those OEM bolts don’t seem to like 100 foot-pounds from a manual torque wrench). Colonial didn’t charge me for the bolts although they could have.

Herb Connolly Chevrolet in Framingham is pretty good.

I got mine at Herb Connolly Chevy in Framingham, and I was happy with the deal, and the sales staff was far better than stereotypical car salesman. One of their sales people John Gould knows the car very well, and a few of the staff drive them.

They tend to have 6 or so volts on the lot, and I think they sell a far number of them. Their volt service has been very good - I had a sticky three way valve in the heater loop and they took care of it well, diagnosis was spot on. I even had a sidewall puncture (really wish we had spares in these cars) and their price for a new tire was cheaper than any of the tire shops in the area.

I've considered that option. I did some looking around at used Gen I Volts online and wasn't terribly impressed by what I saw - there appear to mostly be only Base models available and we're looking around 15-16 for well-maintained one owner low mileage examples a couple years old.

I like the Volt a lot, and I save a lot of money on fuel driving it, but the fact is I'm not sure that a Gen I is a vehicle that I want to own outright and commit to driving for many years down the line. EV technology is advancing so rapidly that I think I may end up feeling badly driving the equivalent of an obsolete Commodore 64 when everyone else is driving a Power Mac in a couple years...:)

Liberty

I also had a good experience at Liberty. I grabbed their last eligible 2016 Premiere during the the 20% sale. Found some damage on it right when I was about to drive off, but they offered a loaner made it right. Christian was good to work with and really excited by the car and EV technology. I haven't used them for service either, as Herb Chambers in Danvers is more convenient for me.

Although I never purchased a Chevy, I always shop Quirk. I've purchased 5 new cars from them. I always got the deal as advertised on their site or in the Herald. In April I leased 2 Kias in the same day. Wonderful people to deal with and well worth the hour drive to get to them. I'm hoping to lease a Volt from them in 2018.

I ended up going with Herb Connolly Chevrolet; I think I made out fairly well and the experience was great. Lumos, if you feel comfortable PMing me your contact info, I should be able to get you cut a $100 check for the referral! :)
