To maintain the 12 V battery and to allow the battery cooling system to come on if necessary, I would leave it plugged in if it’s possible; just be advised that after 48 hours or so if there’s no contact through the Onstar system that system will go to sleep, and you have to actually restart the car in order to wake it up. Just so you know if you’re trying to make contact with the car through Onstar and it goes into hibernation mode, you’re not going to be able to do that until you get back and restart it.

Given it's a month -- nice vacation BTW, congratulations and have a great time -- it's not all the difference than a regular car. If you're concerned about the battery pack, just don't fully charge it.

Yeah that is the other side of it. It would be ideal if you can leave it half charged and plugged in but I don't think there's any way to do that. The main danger of having a charged pack is heat affecting the life of the battery and if it's plugged in the cooling system would operate if necessary to cool the battery down, so I think that's another way to go.

I have owned Volt(s) for 5.5 years now, and every day when at home, the car is on the charger 24/7. The car likes it this way for conditioning that battery pack, still on the original 12V battery and EV mode range is better than ever for main battery.

I have read that leaving the Volt plugged in was the best way to leave it for extended periods of time. The fact that the car is plugged in will mean that the pack will be cooled when needed (not likely if it is in a garage).

I don't think a month I son I served an extended period of time. I wouldn't worry about it either way. Now if it was 3 months to a year, then follow the instructions for long term storage in the owner's manual.
