We have a 2013 Volt that we bought new. It still gets 40 miles range on a charge in warm weather. It has about 80k miles. We are snowbirds in the winter in the Phoenix area and would like to leave our Volt in the uninsulated garage May - October, when we return to the Pacific NW. The garage gets the morning sun, but is otherwise not subject to direct sun. We know the garage gets hot in the summer, but we don’t know hot hot. Any advice pro or con about doing so? Leave the car plugged in?

I live in Phoenix, the Volt will cool the battery if left plugged into the EVSE. Our 2011 uses about 800watts for a few minutes four or 5 times a day while parked in a uninsulated garage.

It's a Gen 1, it'll probably give up trying to maintain anything after a couple of days. And that's plenty of time to justify using storage mode settings. Sticky thread here: Long Term Storage Guide That's really the best you can do short of finding a climate controlled space to put it in.
