I just rolled over 77,000 miles and did an oil change. Unfortunately it looks like the rear main is leaking. Oil spray on underside of engine and dripping from the vent/leak hole between engine block and "transmission" (voltec drive unit).

Will this repair be covered by the 5y/100k mile powertrain warranty?

Yes the rear main seal is covered under the powertrain warranty. Its not likely the rear main is leaking, have seen many oil pans leaking, also covered under the powertrain warranty.

Looks like you're right--dealer says it's the oil pan gasket leaking. Glad it's simple! They're fixing under powertrain warranty and have given me a 2017 Volt to drive in the meantime. Good deal!

mpmoore, hope you don't mind me asking (it may have already been asked somewhere), and you don't have to answer if you like. But, do you work at a Phoenix area Chevy dealer??? I live in Mesa and trying to find the best local dealer for my service. I certainly wouldn't mind bringing it to YOU!!!
Thanks for all your help in these forums
