The entire front end of the Kona Electric is different. It has a closed-off, body color grill area.So I think those ads at the bottom are being a little misleading - I don't think they are actually the Kona Electric talked about in the article.
My presumption is entirely based off the front end - the EV has a fake "grill", whereas the ones being shown around you for ~20k look more inline with traditional ICEs (you can see the radiator in the 4th picture). Also the Electric version looks to have that white line across the front end that goes just under the headlights, whereas the one posted is missing it.
That link is not a Kona Electric. The EV version still isn't available, and the pictures clearly show the gas version.
I think they are supposed to release pricing soon, but most people are assuming it will be around the same as the Bolt, but will have a higher range.
If that is the case, there is a very good chance it or the Niro EV will replace my current Volt next year.
By next year GM will have hit their EV credit cap and the credits will start decreasing every quarter. Hyundai and Kia still have a long ways to go, so they'll have a bit of a leg up on price for the foreseeable future.
One other note, if you have a keen eye, you'll notice Hyundai is already including the Kona Electric in its TV ads. At the end of each commercial they show the entire line-up of SUVs, and it's all the way on the far right.
