With the battery removed, the key can be stored anywhere for use including inside/outside the vehicle in a hide-a-key box. If the battery were not removed, one would just simply have to push the access button on the door handle to unlock the door. The unpowered (no battery) key can be used in the keyhole you used to program the new key which will allow the key to be detected to start the car.

True, I forgot that was an option. However is that hard programmed or is it an option that can be turned off in the config screen? As for the buttons not working from inside, I have not tried that myself. I may try locking a fob inside the car (window down) to test. I know from personal experience that if the car is left on with the remote outside of the car, doors locked, the access buttons do in fact work to unlock the door. I guess I just assumed the same would be true since the fob is still within the proximity of the car, not taking into account that the car will determine if the fob is inside or outside of the car.
