Very happy in my first 2 miles. Got a black one, because for some reason it had a $2500 rebate and the silver one that is the exact same specs doesn't. Nothing like your first drive in new car being in a blizzard. I look forward to being part of this forum!

Congrats! I don't drive in blizzards here, just rain. Enjoy!

Congrats! How do you feel about the black? I love the Gen 1 in black, but it seems the Gen 2 has some interesting lines that "pop" more with the silver. It's strange how--to me--the appearance differences between the generations is quite stark.

If I had black, I'd plastidip everything to make it like Darth Vader. In fact, I'm contemplating dipping my white diamond tricoat with white and pearlizer and the grill black for a similar storm trooper effect.

I see others are pointing out how they bought their volt in response to the VW TDI buyback, well, count me among them. There really isn't anything out there with the qualities I wanted, plus the cool factor of course (does thinking diesel and electric cars are cool make me a complete geek?).

I like the look of the black a lot, I just don't look forward to trying to keep it clean. I've owned is several days and haven't really seen it clear of snow and dirt so I don't have much of an opinion. We are a front license plate state here in NY, and the plates are yellow and block a lot of the chrome grill. The idea of painting the grill did appeal to me though. I would never be able to get it to go with the black though, as it isn't straight black, it has some flaking in it that almost seem dark red in color. So far, love the car. Bought a Siemens charger off amazon for $450 or so, ran some 8-3 wire into my garage panel, 40 amp breaker, and we are ready to rock and roll.

The cold (16 degrees this morning) does take a toll on the efficiency, but not too bad. Mostly just have to deal with the engine coming on every so often to warm up the coolant. I keep the coolant gauge up all the time because that seems to be the most useful bit of information and with it I can predict when the engine will start. Can't wait until spring.

If the car is sitting outside in 0 degree weather, don't be surprised when you press the start button that there is a slight delay, then the ICE starts up right away. The first time that happened to me in snowageddon 1 it startled me. The car will run in ICE mode with the battery frayed out until the battery temps are safe then it will switch back to normal. The temps on a gen1 are something like 26 degrees with the high setting and 14 degrees for low. I don't know if that changed at all for gen 2.

I'm a new owner too! We got ours 2 weeks ago. Pearl white Premiere with the brandy/black interior. It was the only one on the lot that wasn't all black inside. But it's a sharp color combo and I really like it. 300 miles so far and the only gas we've used was on a road trip last weekend. I've been charging at the dealer's or at a free charging station near me. What charging apps have others found useful? I'm trying out PlugShare. Great driving car. I'm still learning all the bells and whistles.

That would be badass! Especially if you can put a dark tint on the front windshield.
