Just test drove the Spark EV

and I was surprised how zippy it was. I thought it was going to be a lot smaller too, I imagined it to be about the same size as a smart car, thankfully I was wrong. Plus, being smaller and lighter than the Volt, it had surprising get up and go. My lease is up on my 2013 Volt in 9 months and I'm not sure which direction I'm going to go. The lease deals on these Sparks are incredible. On the downside, I'll miss the extra room of the Volt, the new design, which I really like and the ability to drive it where ever the hell I want to. For those of you that own a Spark EV, tell me some of the great things about it and some of your hates. I'm just trying to get as much info as I can before I choose what to get next, thanks!

It will earn you real money rather than simply save, even compared to the Volt. Lease $139-$149/Month, minus the California State rebate of $2500, the net cost to you is $79-$85/month for the 39 month lease. Of course, you'll have to rent or take the bus for extended out of range trips.
I had a Volt before my Spark EV and, as you know, the Volt was in a class by itself.
BEV for most 'round town' use but with the ability to be a Hybrid for go anywhere duties.
With the Spark EV I need to have a gasser second car standing by for long distance driving.
I brought my Spark EV home in late May and have put over 6000 miles on it and used the gasser once. I guess I should think about putting 'stabil' in the gas.... and maybe take it out for exercise once in a while.

And living in KC ( Go Royals !! ) I have not spent a dime on powering it for those miles.

Besides the fact that a seriously wishful thinking kc royals fan responded ( GO NY METS!!!) he's at least right about one thing and that the Spark is a great car to drive... You will find yourself almost always going to it first as opposed to any of your other cars.
I love the Spark EV so much I have two! So much fun to drive! Sport mode allows it to just explode off the line. I used the DC Fast Charging feature just once and it was truly incredible how fast I added so much range in such a short amount of time. If you can find one I encourage you to grab it!
Go for it! I find that D in the Spark EV seems just as zippy as S in the Volt , so I rarely use S in the Spark EV. Parkin, g is a also much easier, but it doesn't have rear camera, so that's a tradeoff. Volt sure is quieter and more stable at high speed. Keep in mind that the Spark EV limit is 90 mph, feels weird seeing the momentum just got cut off when I got there. Over all both are extremely fun to drive. Lease deals are pretty awesome too. I got mine for $84/month, $2950 out the door, 12,000 miles/year, 36 months. I got 2 checks totaling $4000.
The Spark EV has a lot more road noise than the Gen 1 Volt. But it can zip faster than the Gen 1 Volt even if it is fully loaded with passengers. Trunk space is itty bitty. Can pick up only one passenger from the airport that is carrying two luggages.

Freakin awesome!!! and this is my thought. I do a lease like this, save a butt load of money over the next three years and then be in a better spot to buy something even better, especially with as fast as technology is advancing.
I have both Volt and Spark EV, love, just LOVE the Spark. No delays in acceleration like the Volt, and for my work commute in the back country road it's fun. The 50/50 balance gives this car awesome handling. I put new tires as soon as I got the car and its worlds better than stock. For out of town trips I'll use the Volt. Wife likes the Volt because it's bigger...but I don't feel a bit of claustrophobic at all, the Spark EV is 100% an ideal commuter. There will be a DCFC down the road from my work so I'm excited to try that out.

That's why I leased both of my cars. I'm thoroughly enjoying driving both, but I'm also looking forward to when the leases end, so I can get into a newer, better EV. Volt is up in Mar 2016.
