The issue heading into June however…is that the CVRP funding as been temporarily cut-off thanks to some political posturing (details). How would people feel about paying full retail for the tiny all-electric Chevy?

They hated it…just 14 were sold in June – expressed another way, sales were off a gazillion percent from both June of 2015 and last month (-93% and -96% respectively.

This must be some kind of mistake? The CA EV rebate didn't run out of funding till the 10th of June. Hard to believe that only 14 Spark EVs were sold/leased last month. I know for sure 1 Spark EV sold in MD, so you're telling me only 13 others were picked up in CA and OR?

There are 366 new Spark EVs for sale according to cars.com, so not like they all just sold out.

Did they stop production of the car in favor of the Bolt EV? I thought it was to last another month, but maybe they pulled it early?

Looks like cars.com still shows 366 of them in the US, so maybe just incentives. I wouldn't buy one MSRP given Bolt EV coming.
Interesting. GM moves in mysterious ways. Or consumers aren't rational and are waiting to see if the state rebate comes back. Hard to say ....

The Spark EV was even eligible for the 20% off MSRP discount last month. A MD dealer was offering a $27,135 MSRP Spark EV 2LT for $19k before any incentives (and I'm sure there was more room to haggle). $19k - 7.5k fed credit - 2.3k MD credit = $9.2k + TTL.
Or $0 down, $139/month, 36 months for a lease.

So Spark EVs were stupid cheap last month, leased OR purchased. The 14 number can't be right.
Not many people want a little Spark, EV or no EV.

Sure, if you're an image whore. Same people that would buy an e-tron over a Volt.

For a daily commuter, you can't get much cheaper than a Spark EV lease...literally, unless you can get paid to drive a car, since the total costs of a 3 year Spark EV lease in CA was....$0...until the EV rebate funding ran out.

Without the rebate, the monthly costs jumps to an outrageous $69/month.
Correct number of Spark EV June sales was 359.

IEVs said the 14 number was actually July sales to date.....so 14 Spark EVs were moved on July 1st. At that rate, all new Spark EVs will be sold out by the end of the month.

And with the fire sale lease rates/20% off MSRP purchase offers, no reason why sales would slow down.

Still, the rest of the continental US doesn't get to buy new Spark EVs at all. This makes me wonder if Bolt sales will also start in Ca and Or and slowly expand to CARB states, then the rest of us. It doesn't matter to me, I'm not in the market for either a spark or a bolt. I'm waiting for the next big EV to hit the streets - anything Model S to Suburban sized would be nice, but not at the Model S price.
Hopefully we'll not see a Suburban-sized EV for a long time! :)

Image whore? LoL - nice assuming.

I've driven a Spark, also drove a Trax. Couldn't pay me to own either.
Nothing to do with image. Everything to do with how the car feels to me while driving it.

Have you ever driven a Spark EV? I'm guessing no based off your comments.

Unless the wheelbase is extended and improve the ride quite a bit on the EV, it's the same. [/Sarcasm]

If mini-torque monsters that drive like go carts aren't your thing, the Spark EV could look like a mini Tesla (or Camaro, or whatever the hell you like) and you probably still wouldn't like it.

You keep reverting back to looks for some reason. I'm not a fan of the ride, perhaps you are - enjoy it.
I'll keep not buying one :)
Some people need a comfy ride. (don't ask)
Some people enjoy a sporty ride. (also, don't..)
Some people enjoy a sporty ride, FUN performance and FREE driving for +19k miles and counting. (also don't ask)

But if you must:

(This gravy train may be ending this year, or not...)(The only expense is the cheap tires this thing can go through, if you enjoy performance)

Wow, $9.2k + TTL. That's insane. I got out the door for $24k in May on a 2016 Spark EV (includes TTL) and squeaked in for the CA rebate, so my net will be $14k. And I thought that was a great deal.
