Looks like the same wheels I just bought for my Bolt EV through TireRack, but I got Blizzak WS80's.

I thought about painting the wheels because my experience with the plastic snap in wheel covers is a plastic finger eventually cracks and the cover falls off somewhere. I'm just not sure silver paint will make them look any better than "murdered" black. I'm leaning towards lazy and leaving them black.

I could be pursued to put on some VW Beetle-type Moon hub caps for giggles. Are your steelies a 4 bump or three bump for the center rim ring? I suspect 4 bump.

Update, my steelies arrived. They have no bumps, so that squashes any thoughts of moon hub caps.

No bumps on wheels.
I wanted to paint as my experience is the factory epaint does not hold up over the winter - they will look like crap in 3 years due to rust. Argent (silver) is a GM color - figured I'd stay factory.

Truth is, the silver looks ok to me. Nothing spectacular just a little less obvious than the black. I thinking maybe a dark metallic gloss black or gun metal spray for next year, want to stay clear of the PD look.

For my insight I had considered these, perhaps I'll pick up for a crazy look to the volt.

thanks for the links. However, the wheel hub opening is planar with the hub center. In addition on the front, the axle stub extends past the hub opening surface. I'll be fabbing up a few 1-1/2 pvc pieces sanded smooth and painted to match. May top with covers you suggested.

Maybe some clear silicone to hold them in place?

I applaud your efforts and those do not look that bad. I wanted something that looked a bit better. I found factory rims for $400, slightly used Michelin Ice-x tires and bought 4 tpms sensors and a tool tool to reprogram my TPMS system. for less than $700 I have a set of winter and summer tires.

1-1/2 pvc plug and pipe painted argent. Friction fit with a few wraps of electrical tape to make the gap between pvc and hub ID.
Nice McGyver! Did you add these before or after mounting the wheels?
