Jaguar has been going downhill for a while. My concern is if they botch this it will also hurt EV sales in general - the anti-EV crowd will point to Jaguar as proof that EVs can't compete with ICE, but will conveniently ignore the fact that Jaguar was already a failing car company.
Jaguar plans: replace its gas cars with EV's
Jaguar Land Rover is considering a plan to turn Jaguar into an EV-only brand within the next decade.
According to Autocar, Jaguar is planning to swap out their internal combustion engined cars for EVs within the decade—most likely within the next five years. In that time, they’ll be producing fewer and fewer conventional vehicles.
In addition to the I-Pace for 2019, Jaguar is also planning on introducing a host of luxury models powered by an electric powertrain within the next two years. They’re looking to turn the XJ into an electric model for the first time since its introduction as a model in 1968.

Wherein is this anti EV crowd I keep hearing about? I've never experienced it.
Back on topic, the I-Pace looks great. If I had $100K to drop on a CUV that I wasn't planning on road tripping, it would be on the list. But as I wander about the Northwood Auto Show today, I'll be looking mostly at Jeep Wranglers. Rubicon Unlimited. Ain't you dad's jeep, LOL.

GM now has the opportunity to develop a plug in electric 4 wheel drive SUV. One that can operate totally on 100% electric (AKA Volt System) for 75-100 miles and a super fuel efficient gasoline engine (generator) that can obtain 40+ mpg on 87 octane when operating on gas when the battery charge is gone or operating in "hold" mode.
Here in Northwestern Oregon and other places in the country storms can and will knock out electric power for days, and in some cases even weeks. At least with a Volt or a similar SUV platform, one can operate on just gas, in the event of a power outage. We keep about 30 gal's of regular gas in our garage in 5 gal cans so that we can run our generator to keep the fridge and freezer from defrosting, and to run our cars. We also keep at least 1/2 or more gas in both gas tanks of our 2010 Prius and our 2016 Volt as well.

To the contrary, JLR are doing quite well thank you. Jaguar has developed and introduced five new cars in the last five or six years, and they were well received and are selling. I'm less familiar with LR, but I think they have brought out three or four new cars in the same time frame. The upcoming Jaguar I-Pace EV has received rave reviews from the auto press as one of the best EV's coming to the market. I've driven one and it's a great car. Since JLR were released from a nearly bankrupt Ford Motor Company in 2009, and now have development funds from Tata, they are on an upward swing.Jaguar has been going downhill for a while.
