Hello all,

I live in the United States and have a 2017 Volt. Upon start, there is a series of dings that are too loud in volume and have frankly become quite annoying. I have searched the owner's manual without finding the remedy. Is there a way to reprogram the car to eliminate or lower the volume of these dings? I like the schwoooooooop. I want to keep that :D

I don't know for certain I second generation cars, but in first generation cars if you turn the volume knob while the sound is playing it affects the sounds being played.

I think you're referring to the seatbelt warning chimes. If that's the case, you could just buckle up before starting the car. :) I, personally, have just gotten used to these chimes since I have a habit of waiting until I'm already pulling out of the garage before putting on my seatbelt.

But if you want to turn down the volume, my best guess for doing so (after searching the manual for the keyword "volume") is the "Chime Volume" setting, which is under "Comfort and Convenience", which is under the "Vehicle Personalization" menu. (See page 141 in the 2016 manual, 144 in the 2017)

(For the startup "schwoooooop" (as you put it :) ), there's a setting for "Audio Cue Volume" that can turn up/down the volume of that's also under the "Vehicle Personalization" menu.)
