Is the rebate taxable income?
This rebate may be considered taxable income by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue. It shall be the sole responsibility of the recipient, individually, to seek professional advice and determine the tax consequences of this rebate.

The Ontario Rebate is applied AFTER TAXES FULL PRICE of the car, so you could say that the rebate is being TAXED.

PA's rebate is taxable, too, but I'm not going to kick her out of bed for eating crackers.

The Ontario Rebate is applied AFTER TAXES FULL PRICE of the car, so you could say that the rebate is being TAXED.
A rebate of any kind (including coupons) are not considered income in Canada, and not taxable.
We also don't pay taxes on prizes and lottery winnings, while the US does.
