Sparkie took a tractor trailer tire tread to the grille on the highway....literally.

Good news is sparkie is getting repaired, so the march to 400k is still on!

WOW. Glad the owner is okay and Sparkie is getting repaired.

I had a similar heart-attack inducing incident in May where this tractor trailer tire flew a few inches over my roof like a Frisbee.

No damage, but if I'd been in my Jeep it'd have come right through my windshield due to sitting up taller.

I was in the midst of passing a semi one time, and one of its tires literally exploded right in front of me. Pieces of tread went flying everywhere! Luckily the big ones missed me. Sounded like a bomb going off!

Ahh fond memories of the infamous tractor trailer retreads.

I had a semi loose a brake drum right in front of me. There was no way to avoid both halves of it, so I swerved to hit only one. Instantly blew both right tires. I was surprised at how well the car tracked as I was doing 65 mph at the time. Had the car flat-bedded to the dealer for two new wheels, new tires and some minor trim damage.

PS This was in my 2009 Dodge Charger R/T

If Sparkie had invested in a VoltScreen.... who knows how things would have turned out.

He had a Volt Screen. Insurance company actually called him to confirm the mileage. Could not believe it had 350,000 miles. Erick stated he was tempted to lie! There was some concern that it would have been totaled. I want to pass Erick in EV miles, but not this way.

Supposedly Steven O'Hara is making a special VoltScreen just for Sparkie.

Here is the damage caused by the truck tire at highway speeds.
