Hoping someone can help out. Texts don't pop up on the screen with my wife's Iphone. They do work with my Android phone. I've deleted and re-paired her phone. It is first in the list. Bluetooth is on. Calls work. Just not texts. Is it a car setting? A phone setting? An issue because it's an older Iphone 5?

Thanks in advance.

Unless I'm mistaken the phone is current to when the car was being manufactured, so less likely to be an age issue and more likely to be a simple incompatibility. Is it perhaps a permissions thing? Android user myself, sorry I can't be of more help.

Apple went through a period where they were limiting phone functions while driving. Perhaps the ability to send and receive SMS text messages via BT was intentionally crippled. Currently, with CarPlay, you can only access your favorites when attempting to use the phone functions while driving.

Hmm, if that was the case, I'm sure there would be a lot of threads about it.

Does anyone else with an Iphone get their texts displayed on a Gen 1 Volt?

Current?!? Nah, the iPhone 5 was current from 2012 to 2013. It's very LONG in the tooth, and predates the 2015 Volt by a couple/few years. It uses BT 4.0. What version does the Volt use? The problem is that it's so old, I'm not even sure anyone here even remembers if that combo worked.

The iPhone 5 and 5s were near enough the same phone, I very much doubt the Volt created in 2011, and updated in 2015 would ignore one of the most popular phones in use by a large percentage of their customers. Even if it was 2 years old when the car launched.

I think it's safe to say "current" in the context that car electronics move at a much slower pace than computers and phones. And probably much of the testing they did when preparing the 2015 updated radio would have been with a 5 or 5s.
