I searched the forum and couldn't find my specific problem, so I'll ask and see what happens.

I recently switched from a Motorola Droid Turbo to and iPhone 7. The new phone paired easily, but will not communicate with the car for text messages the way the android based Droid did. The car told me that my new phone will not work with car play.

So, is there an app for this? Seems like there's an app for everything!

Any ideas?

Not sure about this specific issue, but I read that the upcoming iOS 10.3 release will bring improvements to car play.

I can receive text messages and to send, I simply press the handset button on the steering column and tell siri, "text to whomever"

It's been answered lots of times here, you have to change a setting in your phone.

you have to go to the bluetooth settings on the phone under the Chevrolet Volt and turn on "Show Notifications"

Gen 1's don't have CarPlay.

I have a 2013, so I can't testify to any details, but 2014's are supposed to have "Siri Eyes Free".
