Hi everyone. I recently purchased a Manual Service Disconnect on eBay from a Gen1 Volt that I was going to use in an EV project. The one I received first turned out to have a blown fuse, which was promptly replaced by the seller. I get the feeling these were from salvage of crash test vehicles.

Anyway, he didn't want the bad MSD back, so I decided why not hack it up in the name of discovery, and here is what I found inside...

That's interesting. I don't think I've ever read about that fuse before. I suppose it makes sense - by putting the fuse there, a blown fuse is easily replaced without opening the pack, and since all the triplets are in series anyway, anywhere in the series circuit experiences the same current. Another little piece of clever GM engineering. :)
